Cabinet Decision on MDCAT 2023
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet Takes Action
After uncovering widespread cheating in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT 2023), the caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to re-conduct the exam originally administered by ETEA on September 10, 2023. This decision comes in response to numerous instances of students utilizing Bluetooth devices for cheating.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation Findings
Petition and Court Order Prompt Investigation
Following the filing of a petition against the cheating cases, the Peshawar High Court directed the withholding of the results for ETEA MDCAT 2023. The KP advocate general, during the court proceedings, recommended the re-conducting of MDCAT 2023 to uphold the transparency of the admission process. Simultaneously, a joint investigation team (JIT) revealed in its initial report that an organized group was orchestrating widespread cheating for financial gains. Over 200 suspects faced charges, with a government official allegedly charging 35 lakh per student for assistance in cheating through Bluetooth devices. Shockingly, students were reported to have paid over 80 lakh for obtaining 180 marks in MDCAT 2023.
